MEET KRIS AND SANDY BRODIE

OWNERS OF KAUAI KOA FARM

This dynamic duo works tirelessly on their tree farm to create sustainable agri-forestry practices to preserve the land and animals here. They share a love of trees, in fact, and Sandy has propagated thousands of native Koa trees over the years.  They realize their incredible blessing in living here and have decided part of their kuleana (welcomed responsibility) to share their space with others for healing, peace, and harmony to everyone who visits.

Krista's main role in Forest Therapy is to simply guide people to the forest, open the door, and let the forest be their therapist. She is trained in advanced techniques of guiding people to find their own sacred message by using various invitations to connect with Mother Nature.  The meditations offer ways to get grounded and rooted in the Truth of each person's essence. The sharing circle helps people know we are not alone and we are all connected to one another, just as the trees are connected to each other!

THE APPROACH

From the beginning of my life growing up as a tom-boy in California, I have always loved trees. I climbed every tree possible in my neighborhood. They were wonderful playgrounds and safe sanctuaries for me.

As a mother, I introduced my sons to the sacred Redwoods and shared my passion for protecting nature.

Now, as a Certified Forest Therapy Guide/Practitioner, I relish  opportunities to share the incredibly positive impacts of connecting with nature. It is my honor, pleasure and joy to do so in this special place.

I hold the utmost respect for my current home on the Hawaiian island of Kaua'i, where I live on a ten acre sustainable native tree farm with my husband, Sandy. This gorgeous home of my heart on the North Shore is where the forest bathing walks are held.

Along with my work as a farmer and guide, I am a Professional Sign Language Interpreter and a Red Cross advocate for the disabled community. I am dedicated to continually learning the Hawaiian language and deepening my understanding and appreciation of the customs and revered regenerative practices of my island home.

Lastly, I serve as a volunteer helping to make poi and feed houseless people on island. I swim often and am passionate about preserving the reef and native plants and animals. I also enjoy yoga and creating art with watercolor and ceramics!

Forest therapy beautifully blends so much of what I appreciate and value about life and this world we live in. I look forward to sharing this experience with you!
